In early September 2008, The Sid James Experience came together again for Charlotte and Fred’s wedding reception in the splendour of the ballroom at the Prince Regent hotel on Weymouth’s esplanade.
The logistics had been..interesting, between the drummer’s midnight arrival on a boat from Jersey to the bassist’s day-long traffic nightmare from London, but somehow it all came together
Blasting through a mixture of all-time-favourites-of-all-time and special new selections, and taking a break for the tremendous opera skills of ‘Dr Carlos’, the boys had the floor rammed, especially having spotted the ‘men in kilts’ and accordingly brought the house down with The Proclaimers’ I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).
Several encores later and after a reprise of what’s now entered the Sid annals as ‘The Scottish Song’, the chaps kicked back a well-earned few single malts on the terrace and shared boozy hugs and kisses with the very happy couple.
