Paul’s 50th Birthday, Ramsgate

8th February 2019

To celebrate his birthday, Paul (keyboard and backing vocals) called upon the Sid boys to help celebrate his 50th at the Ramsgate Music Hall in deepest East Kent.

With some of the worst weather that the UK had witnessed in a long time causing flight and train delays, the band assembled safely from far and wide in time to set up under the watchful eye of Al the resident sound man.

With guests coming from the Channel Islands, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Wight and the US, the event was as much a college reunion as it was a birthday celebration.

Ramsgate Music Hall is known for its intimate size and superb sound and was the perfect place for such a gathering of school friends, college mates and family. After a couple of cheeky pints in the bar upstairs, the band took to the stage.

Fuelled by excitement and the aforementioned ‘livener’ beforehand, the band played a full set of 14 songs to a packed room; some familiar with the band from college days and a good handful enjoying the band’s unique style for the first time.

Tunes included:
Gomez’s Whippin’ Piccadilly (noted by the Ramsgate drinkers as ‘highlight of the night’!)
Don’t Look Back in Anger
Sex on FIre

As the dry ice cleared and the audience became visible the band had, once again, entertained and delighted and promptly retired upstairs for further refreshment.
